Brine chemistry matters: Isolation by environment and by distance explain population genetic structure of Artemia franciscana in saline lakes

چکیده

The American brine shrimp Artemia franciscana is important in aquaculture and has become invasive other continents, aided by dispersal via waterbirds. However, little known about processes underlying its genetic diversity population structure natural habitat North America. These processes, including local adaptation, are pivotal drivers of species distribution community structure, therefore central to aquatic biodiversity. We studied 15 populations saline lakes Saskatchewan, Canada determine the influence variation geological history, water chemistry, lake size, location. aimed relative importance isolation distance environment using cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 gene (CO1) as a mitochondrial marker five nuclear microsatellite markers. Geographic patterns for CO1 microsatellites differed, with clustering different groups based on distances according used. better indicated historical colonisation suggesting potential routes initial when were formed after deglaciation 11,000–15,000 years ago. Differentiation between markers was strongly related hydrochemistry, suggested distance-based redundancy analysis, but there no indication distance. ratio alkalinity sum Ca Mg concentrations particularly important, although high Cl concentration caused potash mining also had unique population. Population Genetic Structure and Isolation by Distance of Helicobacter pylori in Senegal and Madagascar

Helicobacter pylori has probably infected the human stomach since our origins and subsequently diversified in parallel with their human hosts. The genetic population history of H. pylori can therefore be used as a marker for human migration. We analysed seven housekeeping gene sequences of H. pylori strains isolated from 78 Senegalese and 24 Malagasy patients and compared them with the sequence...

Genetic Diversity and Population Structure of Iranian tulips revealed by EST-SSR and NBS-LRR Markers

The genus Tulipa L. (Liliaceae) comprises about 100 species and Iran is considered as one of the main origins of tulips. In this research, genetic diversity and population structure of 27 wild populations of tulips collected from Iran were studied by 15 highly polymorphic and reproducible expressed sequenced tag-simple sequence repeat (EST-SSR) markers and 8 nucleotide binding site (NBS)-enzyme...

Autosomal STR analyses in native Amazonian tribes suggest a population structure driven by isolation by distance.

Eleven short tandem repeat loci (CSF1PO, D3S1358, D5S818, D7S820, D8S1179, D13S317, D16S539, D18S51, D21S11, TH01, and TPOX) were investigated in 232 individuals from 6 Amazonian native tribes (Tiriyó, Waiãpi, Zoé, Urubu-Kaapor, Awa-Guajá, and Parakanã). We added the new data to a database that included five previously typed native populations from the same area (Wai Wai, Gavião, Zoró, Suruí, a...
